So you finally decided to take the plunge and book your boudoir session. Now what? Eeek! Now you have to think what to wear for your boudoir session! For most girls, that might be scary and nerve racking. Well, I have a few guideline and tips to help you create a perfect boudoir session.
Tip #1: WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF
When it comes down to it, you must ALWAYS wear something that makes you feel good about yourself. Whether it makes you feel sexy, comfortable, or cute, it doesn’t really matter. I want it to make you feel good about yourself. The confidence you get from that will exude into the pictures and you will be more confident and comfortable in front of the camera. No one wants to look like they are trying too hard or trying to be someone they aren’t. If you want quality photos that showcase the best of who you are, then you got to be yourself completely.
Tip #2: BRING MORE THAN YOU NEED TO THE SESSION
I always tell my clients to bring more than you need to the session. We’ll basically go through everything together and see what works and what doesn’t for the photos. We end up using maybe 2-4 outfits on average but it’s still really nice to have that flexibility of mixing and matching to see what works best for the pictures.
Tip #3: THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX
You don’t always have to have a ton of accessories such as the typical pearl necklaces, thigh high stocking, corset, etc. I mean if that’s what you want, then go for it. But you can also just do the simple matching bra and panty, over-the-shoulder tee and panty, or just jeans and a bra! I mean this is YOUR session and you can make it however you want it. So think outside of the box, keep things simple, clean, and pretty and you can’t go wrong! You can even wear a cute tutu and bra. the sky’s the limit when you use a bit of creativity and have fun with it!
Tip #4: COLORS
In terms of colors, you simply can never go wrong with black or white. It’s simple and classic. But don’t be afraid to throw some colors into your attire. Soft muted colors always work. While bold colors can be a hit or miss depending on the outfit. But doesn’t mean you can’t go bold. Bring in a ton of various outfits and we’ll work together to see what would work best for the camera.
Tip #5: CONFIDENCE
The best thing to bring to your boudoir session is CONFIDENCE. Simply have fun and just enjoy the whole process! Seriously, you get pampered with hair&makeup and you basically feel like a super model for a day! Enjoy it and don’t be afraid to let loose. The pictures will come out 100x better if you just be yourself and relax.
